The league commissioner responded to the shocking court ruling that found Mr. K "not guilty" in a press conference at league headquarters today. While media outlets and protesters continue to react negatively to the verdict across the States, the commissioner wasted little time opening his presser stating:
"We're very disappointed with the ruling in New Jersey yesterday regarding the incident involving Mr. K and the Atlantic City Gamblers organization. I'd like to emphasize that the AFFL stands by the findings detailed in the Tewitt Report. We have utmost faith they did their due diligence investigating Mr. K's actions back on the night of the incident in March. With respect to the legal process, while Mr. K may be legally cleared of his actions he will not be allowed to immediately resume all league activity until further notice."
Mr. Commissioner went on to briefly answer media related questions before addressing the topic of appeal later on in the conference.
"We did received a request to appeal the penalties issued last month from the Gamblers organization. In meeting with team officials we both agreed that it would be in Atlantic City's best interests to handle the appeal following the court case. We'll likely begin the process here in the next few days."
So it looks like things may finally be looking up for the Gamblers faithful despite a tumultuous past few months. Here at CSN we feel fairly confident in saying that the Mr. K and the Gamblers should be able to present a solid enough case to the appeals committee to finally put this whole situation behind the organization. While not much is known about the league's appeals committee (or policy for that matter) it is believed to consist of a select few individuals.
